Crypto price apps for Mac compared (2026)
Six Mac apps that keep crypto prices in view, compared side by side. Most live in the menu bar; one floats over your screen.
Disclosure: we make Traders Window, one of the apps below. The other apps' details come from their Mac App Store listings, checked on 14 October 2026. Prices are US App Store prices and can change.

The apps
Coin Tick
A long-running, free menu bar ticker. It shows several coins at once next to the clock, pulls data from CoinGecko, so almost any coin is available, and can quote prices in USD, EUR, GBP or BTC. Good if you want one or two prices always in sight and nothing else. Requires macOS 12 or later.
TickerPad
A free menu bar ticker for 9,000+ coins with data from CoinGecko and Binance. It adds 7-day sparklines, a price window you can toggle with a keyboard shortcut, one-click links to TradingView and detailed coin information such as market cap and supply. Available in 11 languages. Requires macOS 13 or later.
CoinBar
A $0.99 menu bar app with live Binance prices, desktop widgets for prices, a watchlist and the Fear & Greed Index, and price alerts as notifications. It also follows Polymarket prediction markets. Requires macOS 15 or later.
Crypto Drop
A $2.99 menu bar app for 20 major coins in 8 fiat currencies, refreshing every 30 seconds to 15 minutes, with 24-hour change and an offline cache. Simple and predictable. Requires macOS 13 or later.
Bitcoin Ticker Widget
A free app that, despite its name, tracks many coins in the menu bar and in desktop and Notification Center widgets. It's the most chart-heavy of the group, with line, candlestick and market depth charts plus volume, RSI and MACD, and lets you pick the exchange. Requires macOS 14 or later.
Traders Window
A free floating panel, not a menu bar item. It stays on top of every app, including full-screen TradingView and browsers, and clicking it doesn't take focus from your trading app. Prices stream from Binance about once a second for up to 8 coins. For coins with a Binance perpetual it adds the funding rate, open interest and liquidations. Alerts pulse the window and repeat a sound until you dismiss them, and can also go to your phone. No account and no tracking. Requires macOS 13 or later.
The trade-offs: it only uses Binance, so a coin must have a USDT pair there; it shows up to 8 coins; there's no Windows version; and because it isn't signed with a paid Apple certificate, macOS asks you to allow it once (install guide).
Menu bar or floating panel?
The menu bar is the least intrusive place for a price, but it has two limits for traders. It has room for a number, not context. And in a full-screen app the menu bar is hidden until you move the mouse to the top of the screen, which is exactly when an active trader needs the price. Desktop widgets have the opposite problem: they sit behind your windows. A floating panel stays visible over everything, at the cost of a little screen space. There's a longer comparison in menu bar ticker vs floating widget.
How to choose
- You hold crypto and check the price a few times a day: a free menu bar ticker such as Coin Tick or TickerPad is enough.
- You want widgets on the desktop: CoinBar or Bitcoin Ticker Widget.
- You trade futures with your chart in full screen and don't want to miss a level: Traders Window.
